Braided Rugs
Braided texture rugs blend traditional craftsmanship, affordability, and have become a recent trend in home

The technique of braiding has been around for centuries and today's home decor products, such as area rugs
utilize several different braiding styles.
Cable Braid - This braid was created in the 1800's as a form of rope used to hoist sails on ships.
It is formed by interlocking and weaving many strands of yarn into a single, extremely durable rope.
Flat Braid - The flat braid is very old and is most authentic braiding method. The Egyptians and later
the Pilgrims adopted this braid. It consists of weaving three or more "ropes" into a single braid.
Because you can bring different materials together the possibilities are endless. The braids can even be sew
together.
Tubular Braid - This braid is essentially the cable braid but the elements consists of a core that
has been wrapped with yarn. This is an affordable way to make inexpensive rugs because the core material is
economical.
Corded Braid - The corded braid is what many rug manufactures use today. Even though it is not really
a braid but a single filled fabric tube that can be sewn into an oval shape. It then simulate a braided rug
although technically it is not braided at all. When using high quality materials this technique can create
long lasting rugs.
